At least one person has been killed and 20 injured in a Russian airstrike on the Spaso-Preobrazhensky in Odesa, Ukraine on Sunday.
A corner of the building was destroyed, leaving openings and rubble scattered across the floors and spilling onto the streets of Odesa's city centre. Footage from inside of the country’s largest church building was captured shortly after the attack. The institution was consecrated in 1809.
Additionally, the missile attacks also destroyed six houses and apartment buildings, and left 14 people hospitalized, Oleh Kiper, governor of southern Ukraine's Odesa region confirmed.
“We still find the likelihood of further missile strikes to be very high,” Natalia Humeniuk, a military command south spokesperson said on Sunday.
The strike on Ukraine’s port comes as part of a barrage of attacks from Russia, which have taken place almost daily in the last week.
