Located in the heart of Kashgar in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, Kashgar Old Town covers an area of 3.6 square kilometers, stretching from Renmin Road in the south to Seman Road and Yawage Road in the north, from Youmulake Xihaier Road in the west to the Tuman River Scenic Area in the east.
With over 2000 years of history, Kashgar Old Town stands as a living specimen of different historical eras, earning it the title of a "living fossil" for studying ancient Western Region cities. It's also one of the most valuable, influential, and representative cities for researching the culture of the ancient Silk Road. Today, the Old Town is an open tourist destination and a residential area for Uyghur people, showcasing their family life, ethnic customs, traditional handicrafts, and distinctive cuisine.
On July 20, 2015, Kashgar Old Town was awarded the title of National AAAAA Tourist Attraction by the China National Tourism Administration, making it a must-visit for anyone exploring the rich history and vibrant culture of Xinjiang.
