What’s the difference between a SPLIT SQUAT and a LUNGE? 🤔
The split squat is as if your shoes are glued to the floor.
Your feet do not move during the rep.
Like in the Bulgarian, front foot elevated, rear foot elevated or standard split squat.
The lunge is as if the step you took was on sinking sand and you have to keep moving.
Like in the forward, reverse and walking lunge.
So what’s better?
The lunge requires more coordination and more explosiveness to get back to the starting position each rep. Which can recruit more muscle than a standard split squat when done with the same weight but usually you cannot “lunge” as much weight as you can “split squat” because the exercise is harder to execute. A lunge requires more skill.
