Tonight You Belong To Me
Lyrics by Billy Rose, Music by Lee David
Regent Club Orchestra, directed by Bob Haring
Vocal duet by Frank Munn and Virginia Rea
Brunswick 3306
Recorded September 14, 1926
The Regent Club Orchestra was an Brunswick studio orchestra that recorded during the 1920s. Although the musicians and directors varied, this session is believed to be directed by Bob Haring. The vocalists are tenor, Frank Munn and soprano, Virginia Rea who often sang together on recordings and radio broadcasts in the late 1920s and 1930s. They performed together on the Palmolive Hour from 1927 to 1931 using the pseudonyms "Paul Oliver" and "Olive Palmer", a clever connection to the show's sponsor. Gus Haenschen (aka Carl Fenton) led the orchestra and Frank Black played the piano. When the show ended in 1931, Munn and Rea along with Haenschen, joined a new radio show with a similar format "The American Album of Familiar Music."
