A Washington State Sheriff’s Deputy with THREE cameras on her person seemed to lose her mind when KULT News reporter, Mike Norton, aimed his camera back at her.
Hilarity ensued.
The camera shy deputy then called for backup AND a supervisor after the reporter refused to forfeit his Fourth Amendment right by giving up his ID.
Will her backup and/or a supervisor agree with the female deputy opinion (seemingly) that I was REQUIRED to identify myself simply because I was “the subject of a radio call”?

Often using police body camera footage, 911 call recordings, and covert camera angles, with a few laughs thrown in, KULT News is a First Amendment audit channel you won’t soon forget. Enjoy the deer-in-the-headlights looks as incompetent cops see a mild-mannered citizen just out taking photos turn into a news reporter well-versed on his Constitutional rights right before their eyes.

Laws may vary but, generally speaking, in the United States, if you are in public you are legally able to photograph whatever you can see. Simply put, your eyes can’t be trespassed. Obviously there are some restrictions on this (i.e., bathrooms, dressing rooms, most courtrooms, locker rooms, etc.) but very few when you are in public. If you can see it, you can shoot it (this rule only applies to cameras.) This is not legal advice.
