In January, 2017, just five months ago, I bought my first house. It has a garage. In that garage, I've developed an appreciation for woodworking. This video is the first of many glimpses into a new woodworker's perspective on woodworking.
I recently ordered the DeWalt DW735X planer from Grizzly, along with the Grizzly G0813 6" jointer, which I'll be unboxing and setting up next week!
Setting up the planer was straight forward. As you can see in the video, I had an issue with the depth adjustment wheel, as I could not get it to turn. It even made a scary noise at one point that certainly sounded like breaking. After rotating it up and down in small increments it seemed to self-lubricate the rest of the four screw posts and began raising and lowering appropriately.
I ran a pine 2x6 through it for my first cut using the dimensioning setting (not the finishing setting which feeds the wood through at a slower speed). The finish was glassy, but there was a little snipe on each end. I expected that for the most part.
Please feel free to comment with questions about setup, use, or anything else. Stay tuned for the Grizzly unboxing and assembly. Thank you for watching!
