The thermal fuse (also called a thermal cutoff) on a dryer is a safety that will blow if the dryer has overheated. When the fuse blows it can cause the dryer to run but not heat, or to not run at all. Visually you cannot tell if the fuse is blown and you will need to use a multimeter or ohm meter to do a continuity test to see if the fuse is good or bad. If you have a bad thermal fuse, make sure address why the dryer was overheating. Most commonly the fuse will blow if there is an airflow restriction (clogged venting, lint buildup inside the dryer, ect), but it can also be caused by a shorted heating element, bad control board, and more.
