During the Global challenge meet 2014, Mr. Bill Gates asked Mr. Arunachalam Muruganantham “What is your advice to new age entrepreneurs to become successful innovators? In an another interview with me, Mr. Arunachalam shared more of his thoughts innovation and entrepreneurship. Here is a clip from my interview with him. 

Arunachalam Muruganantham is a high school dropout hailing from a village in Tamil Nadu, India. His journey to Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential peoples’ list and a recipient of one of the most prestigious civilian award (Padmasree award) from India Government is empowering, inspiring and motivational for entrepreneurs around the world. 

He invented the world’s cheapest sanitary-napkin machine. This invention could easily make him a billionaire. But he focuses on livelihood, hygiene, dignity and empowerment of underprivileged women around the world. This is what makes him different from other entrepreneurs. He is on a mission to create one million employment opportunities for rural women in India. 

In the past, I had interviewed many great entrepreneurs from all over the world for my film. I had approached them as successful entrepreneurs of our time based on the amount of money they made from business. Mr. Muruganantham gave me another angle of entrepreneurship. 

In this interview clip, I asked Mr. Arunachalam, “What is something special in you that is not achievable by education?”
His answer was simple, but profound. Mr. Muruganantham says
"If you are aiming for education for obtaining a job and some fortune, you will never become an innovative entrepreneur. You should look for problems around you and find solutions for it. That's the only way to
succeed in this new age."
