Episode 55: Olympic Airways, and later Olympic Airlines, for at least four decades, was the flag
carrier airline of Greece. The airline's head office was located in Athens. In July 1956 the Greek State reached an agreement with Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis for Onassis to purchase the airline. The company flew under the T.A.E. name until the end of the year and for the first few months of 1957. On 6 April 1957 the company was renamed Olympic Airways.
In December 2003 the company renamed to Olympic Airlines.
On 28 September 2009, Olympic Airlines ceased flights. The company was sold and renamed
to Olympic Air.
