تشارك في دورة هذا العام نخبة من الفرق وفنانين موسيقى الجاز المصريين من بينهم: فريق الدور الأول و محمد أبو ذكري، ورباعي سامر جورج، وفرقة طارق رؤوف وبهاء الدهبي وفريق أوتاك و سول ترينز. كما تشارك الفرق الدولية: Strake & Gorter (ألمانيا)، Edi Nulz (النمسا)،
Nuno Campos Quartet (البرتغال)، Agnes Gosling (هولندا)، الفنان طارق الحاوي (السودان)، Viktor Toth (المجر)، Christoph Stiefel Trio (سويسرا) ، Djaima(بلغاريا)، Mads Mathias Quartet (الدنمارك)، Dock in Absolute (لوكسمبورج)، وفريق Kruidkoek الهولندي.
وقع الاختيار على الفنانة نهى فكري مطربة الجاز المصرية المتميزة لافتتاح دورة هذا العام مع فرقتها الرباعية وذلك يوم الخميس 28 أكتوبر على مسرح قاعة إيوارت التذكارية بمركز التحرير الثقافي.
ويختتم فعاليات المهرجان الفنان السوداني الكبير طارق الحاوي أحد رواد موسيقى الجاز والبلوز في السودان حيث يقدم عرضا مشتركا مع مجموعة من الموسيقيين المصريين المتميزين (المطرب أدهم رشدي وعازفين الجيتار شريف واطسن و آلان عويجان من لبنان مع جمال فهيم على الدرامز.
وفي عودة للتعاون الثقافي بين المهرجان والولايات المتحدة، يستضيف مهرجان القاهرة للجاز لأول مرة هذا العام ثلاث فرق موسيقية أمريكية هي: ICX Jazz Ensemble و مجموعة AJOYO بالإضافة إلى الفنان الأمريكي ذو الأصول المصرية أيمن فانوس والذي تشاركه عازفة التشيلو الأمريكية الشهيرة Frances-Marie Uitti.
المهرجان ممول من الإتحاد الأوروبي بالتعاون مع المعاهد الوطنية الثقافية الأوروبية EUNIC.
A selection of Egypt’s frontline Jazz bands and artists will take part in this year's edition, including Al Dor Al Awal, Mohamed AboZekry, Samer George's Quartet, Tarek Raouf Ensemble, Bahaa El Dahaby Quintet, Room 251, Otaak Band and Soul Trains.
International bands include, Strake & Gorter (Germany), Edi Nulz (Austria), Nuno Campos Quartet (Portugal), Agnes Gosling (Netherlands), Viktor Toth (Hungary), Christoph Stiefel Trio (Switzerland), Djaima (Bulgaria), Mads Mathias Quartet (Denmark), Dock in Absolute (Luxembourg), and Kruidkoek from the Netherlands.
Noha Fekry, the Egyptian renowned Jazz singer, was selected to open this year's edition with her quartet on Thursday, October 28, at the Ewart Memorial Hall in AUC Tahrir Cultural Center.
The festival’s closing act will be featuring the great Sudanese artist, Tariq El Hawy, one of the pioneers of Jazz and blues music in Sudan, with a joint performance with a group of distinguished Egyptian musicians featuring, (singer Adham Roshdy and guitarists Sherif Watson and Alan Ouaijan from Lebanon with Jamal Fahim on drums.
A grand US Jazz representation this year with three American Bands for the first time: ICX Jazz Ensemble and AJOYO, in addition to the American Egyptian Bouzoki and guitar virtuouso Ayman Fanous who will perform in his duo project with American world famous cellist Frances-Marie Uitti.
This project is funded by the European Union (EU) in collaboration with EU National Institute of Culture (EUNIC).
