In this video I show you how to make chipped beef and cheese pita pockets. An easy and delicious sandwich of sorts with a beef better known to make the classic SOS dish that widely served in the military. Warmed pita pocket bread seasoned with melted butter filled with thinly sliced chipped beef paired with sauteed onions, green peppers and warm Cheez Whiz. An easy and delicious variation of the classic cheese steak sandwich.
Shopping List: 2 servings
Armour Star Chipped Beef, 2.25 oz. 2 jars
Cheez Whiz
Pita pocket bread
1 sweet onion, diced
1 green bell pepper, slice thin
1 tbsp. cooking oil
1 tbsp melted salted butter
Dash of steak seasoning (any brand)
Dash of salt and pepper
Directions:
Rinse the chipped beef under cold water (it is very salty). Pat dry and slice thin.
In a skillet add the oil over medium heat. When the oil is heated add the diced onions, peppers, salt and pepper and saute until soft, about 10 minutes.
Add the slice chipped beef to the onions and peppers until warmed through. Season lightly with the steak seasoning.
Heat the Cheez Whiz per jar instructions.
Split the meat/onion/pepper mixture into two piles in the skillet and top with the warmed cheese.
Warm the pitas in the microwave for 8-10 seconds. Open the pockets and brush the inside of pocket with melted butter.
Using a spatula, scoop up each serving of the meat mixture and fill the open pita pockets.
Serve immediately with chips, fries or onion rings.
Enjoy!
