Viewers, have you ever wondered why witnesses have to take oath in court.
It is because dictating an oath provides power to the court to punish a witness if his testimony comes out as a lie.
Take for eg:- I walk in a courtroom as a witness to testify
And lied completely still no court can hold me guilty as I was not under oath, but in this same scenario if I was dictated oath and still lied then I might get punishment for imprisonment up to 7 years.
This is the reasoning behind this immemorial custom in court.
