About the Veteran: 2nd Lieutenant Homer Hooks served in the US Army as a rifle platoon leader in the 102nd Infantry Division, 1st Battalion, 406th Regiment, C Company, 2nd Platoon during World War II. He would participate in the Rhineland and Central Germany Campaigns. During his service, 2nd Lt. Hooks would receive the Purple Heart and 2 Bronze Stars for valor and merit.
