Inside Music Curation | Episode 17: The Art of The Record Store
Join Feed Media Group and special guest Ben Wintroub as we talk about what happens behind the scenes in record stores. From research to curation and presentation, we will explore the art of the record store.
Ben Wintroub grew up in a music family. His great-uncle produced records for Riverside, Milestone, and the Fantasy labels with a focus in Jazz and International artists. In high school Ben began his career in music retail as a clerk and later a store manager at the former Wherehouse Music chain. He also wrote music reviews for his school paper at the University of California Santa Barbara. Life took a bit of a different path for the next few decades and his career in music took a back seat to various other professional endeavors, though his passion for collecting vinyl and attending live music continued. Finally, in 2017 Ben started Tunnel Records in San Francisco, CA. The shop has a focus in Jazz, International, and Soul music, and Ben continues to explore new sounds and genres to share with customers each and every day.
