Pianist Oleg Volkov plays Sergei Rachmaninoff's virtuoso piano arrangement of Franz Behr's Lachtäubchen (Scherzpolka). Rachmaninoff wrote this arrangement in 1911.
The tune was a favorite of Rachmaninoff's father. The "W.R." in the title refers to his father's initials in German - Wassily Rachmaninoff. It is not known if Rachmaninoff was aware that its true author was Franz Behr, or if he believed the melody was written by his father. No mention was given to Behr in the published edition, and it was thought to be Rachmaninoff's original work until the late 20th century when the true author of the melody was identified.
The first known public performance was on May 6 1922, by Rachmaninoff, at the Queen's Hall, London.

The piano is a New York Steinway model B 6' 11" grand piano, originally manufactured in 1974, and fully restored by PianoCraft with a new action featuring Renner parts including Hamburg Steinway Hammers, new pinblock and strings, new damper system, and a restored factory installed soundboard.
