This is the preview for our Heritage Series DVD "Union Pacific: The MoPac Merger Years - 1986-1988."
The program looks at the former Missouri Pacific in Illinois and the St. Louis area as the Union Pacific was integrating the MoPac into its system.
Locations are focused mainly on Salem and Mount Vernon, Illinois, with visits to Tuscola and Dupo as well as Kirkwood, Missouri.
There were still plenty of locomotives in MoPac blue paint, and more locomotives were painted in Union Pacific colors with MoPac lettering. Most of the locomotive models on the late MoPac roster are seen: GP15s, GP38s, GP50s, SD40s, SD50s, B23-7s and C36-7s. Union Pacific power also appears, including a very smokey C30-7.
Manifest freights, automotive trains, intermodal trains, coal trains and local freights are seen. One sequence shows the Mount Vernon local
Cabooses are seen on a few trains, and the trains are loaded with cars from lines that are fallen flags today.
The DVD runs 1 hour and 49 minutes.
