Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, the Union government signed a tripartite agreement with the Tripura government and Tipra Motha. The pact aims for a "time-bound" and "honourable" resolution to all issues concerning the state's indigenous people. The agreement entails resolving indigenous people's concerns regarding history, land and political rights, economic development, identity, culture, and language. Calling the tripartite pact historic, Amit Shah said that they have ‘respected the history, corrected the mistakes and by accepting today's reality’
