The charging port. of my JBL Link 20 started to fail sporadically for a while. now. It now finally did not work at all anymore. So it is time to open up the speaker and check what is going on and what the problem is.
It turns out that the micro-USB charging port detached from the PCB and the 5V and Ground contacts were not making connection anymore.
I first removed the port for inspection and cleanup. The legs on the port were only a little bent and it was possible to salvage the part.
So then it was possible to solder in the component back into its position. I also added some strong adhesive around the USB port in order to help it stabilize and prevent it from detaching again.
After reassembling the speaker it now charges normally again - good as new!! 🙂👍
