The model that carried Peugeot from success to success in its segment has been updated.
With its second generation introduced in 2016, the 3008, which helped Peugeot greatly in improving its brand image, received a facelift. New electronic aids draw attention in the car, which has not seen major innovations in mechanical terms.
Not surprisingly, after the make-up concentrated on the front, the 3008's stance was like a combination of the 508 and 2008. The front grille of the vehicle, which looks like it took its LED headlights from its liftback brother, is also borrowed from its younger brother. As with other models of the brand, the model name is engraved on the front of the hood. In addition, LED daytime lighting extending downwards has not been forgotten.
The rim options of the 3008, which started to offer two new blue tones as the body color, have also been enriched. While black details are used more abundantly in GT equipment, GT badges have also been reshaped. At the rear, the stops, which can be seen to become three-dimensional, and the lower bumper, whose design has been overhauled, do not go unnoticed.
In the 3008, which offers little visual change in its interior, minor appearance updates are made on the digital instrument panel, while the size of the new touch screen has been increased to 10 inches. Combinations such as wood veneer and red leather upholstery can now be made in the interior of the 3008, which also uses new trim pieces that make it feel better. In addition, a frameless rear view mirror is also equipped in the top packages.
The facelift 3008, which we can say is satiated with smart driving aids, has items such as adaptive cruise control system with stop-go function, automatic brake assist, lane keeping assistant, blind spot warning and advanced signage recognition system. In addition, the night vision system, which was previously seen in the DS 7 Crossback in PSA, is also included in the equipment of the vehicle.
The biggest innovation in engines is that the 2-liter diesel unit is no longer offered. While the 1.2-liter 3-cylinder gasoline engine can produce 130 horsepower and 230 Nm of torque, the 1.6-liter option can provide 180 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque. While both units can be purchased with an 8-speed, fully automatic transmission, a 6-speed manual transmission can also be preferred in the small volume example.
These two transmission options also apply to the 1.5-liter diesel engine. The unit, which continues to produce 130 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque, is accompanied by two hybrid options. Equipped with a 1.6-liter gasoline engine, the front-wheel drive one can produce 225 horsepower and the four-wheel drive one can produce 300 horsepower. Combined torque values are 360 and 520 Nm, respectively.
Rechargeable hybrids with batteries with a capacity of 13.2 kWh have been announced as 56 and 59 km, which they can travel using only electrical energy. The high-powered 3008, which can be charged in 7 hours from the standard socket used in homes, is also the most performing with its 0-100 km/h acceleration in 5.9 seconds.
The 3008, manufactured in France, will be available in European markets at the end of 2020.
