Let's uncover the one simple reason why every treatment you've tried for resolving your Piriformis Syndrome, lower back pain or sciatica is NOT working... It's because you (and every other professional you've seen) are trained to view things linearly! Time to unlock true healing: ditch the linear thinking and adopt systems thinking instead.
In this video I want to share with you why the treatment that you’re trying or receiving to get rid of your Piriformis Syndrome isn’t working… in fact it may even be backfiring on you and keeping you stuck. If you can take this nugget and apply it- it will massively improve your chance for success.
In order to resolve your pain in the butt, or back, or leg (sciatic nerve pain down the leg into the foot)... you need ditch linear thinking and adopt systems thinking… let me explain.
You, your doctors, your surgeons… WE all have been trained to see things linearly. We are taught there is a cause and then an effect. If this, then that. If sciatica, we do this. If a herniated disc, we do this. If Piriformis Syndrome, we do this. Diagnosis = treatment.
But if that were so, then why isn’t it working for you? And why do people from all over the world reach out to me every single day and share how the medical system has failed them or nobody can figure out what’s going on with them?
Here’s why…
The reason treatment isn’t working and the reason no one can figure out what’s wrong with you is because the world is glued to linear thinking vs systems thinking. Linear thinking is narrow. It ignores the implied system - which is the human body and the pain experience. It focuses solely on the area that you hurt or ONE aspect of the entire system.
You get MRI’s of your back or buttock. You get massage, injections, and stretches for your butt or glutes. It’s as if everyone has blinders on to the fact that you’re more than just your (literal) pain in the butt… and your body and your brain are connected within a system.
Linear thinking gives us comfort because it tries to make things black and white- when really they are gray. It gives us permission to look at only that which “makes sense” to us and dismiss or forget about stuff that doesn’t make sense.
And then we wonder why treatment isn’t working... why you still hurt.
Consider that you’re focused on the 10% of your body that does hurt… when in order to heal, you need to focus on the 75% of the body that doesn’t hurt.
For example, instead of stretching and treating in the area that hurts, why not focus on moving areas of the body that do not hurt? And instead of trying to fix or treat yourself from a place of fear, scarcity, or “I need to do this or else”- why not remove the pressure and not only move the 90% of the body that feels good… but do it from a place of joy because you want to move and stay active while you allow your body to heal.
This does 2 things:
1- It allows your body to feel safe and move in pain free ways. Instead of doing stretches and movements that hurt (which aggravates the area)… why not use yummy motions to fix the yucky?
2- On the brain side of things, you reduce the threat. Instead of training your brain that movement = pain… you begin to move in ways that are pain free… which reduces the fear of movement & improves your confidence and gets you on the path to healing.
