Using the HD Radio signal sent alongside the analog FM broadcast, I'm able to receive live weather information, even without cell service.

In order to preserve nature and scenery, many state and federal parks limit or outright ban cell towers from being constructed. Broadcast signals travel much further than cell tower signals do. If you still want the latest weather info in an area like this, using an HD Radio signal for a live weather map and tuning into NOAA weather frequencies will allow you to stay up to date without having to rely on cell service.
