On January 15, 2023, Dayton Police Officers came upon a vehicle that had jumped the curb, hit a tree, and became disabled in a grassy field. The driver, an 18-year-old woman, had no license. The officer claims that he could smell alcohol on the breath of the woman. She was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests (FSTs). After that, she was arrested for DUI. At the police station, she submitted to an evidential breath test and the result was 0.143% BAC. She was charged with Operating a Vehicle Impaired, Failure to Maintain Control of a Vehicle, and Having No Driver's License. On March 1, 2023, she pled guilty to an amended charge of Failing to Maintain Physical Control of a Vehicle. She was fined, given credit for serving 1 day in jail, and she was placed on probation for 1 year.
