Every Memorial Day weekend, Bellingham prepares itself for the annual Sea to Ski relay races that involves cross-country skiing, downhill skiing/snowboarding, downhill road running, road cycling, canoe, cyclocross bike, and sea kayaking. I have always wanted to do some part of the race: downhill skiing, downhill running, or the cycling portions of the race.
The video contains clips of the faster part of the downhill section of the race leg. This leg of the race also includes having to hike up 900 vertical feet to the starting point.
Due to my struggle in making friends, depression, and anxiety among other challenges, partaking in the race has remained elusive. However, I do not let that stop me from getting some good cardio training climbing up and having a blast skiing back down.
