Best Divorce Lawyer in Tampa Gary Dolgin Explains Durational Alimony Law in Florida Effective 2023.
"Hi, I'm Gary Dolgin, Board Certified Expert in Marital and Family Law, serving the Tampa Bay community since 1993.
Do you have an alimony issue?
If so, you should know that Florida's alimony laws changed dramatically, effective July 1, 2023.
One of the most common questions that I receive from a client is, "How much alimony am I entitled to receive?" or "How much alimony am I going to be required to pay?"
Well, under Florida's new alimony law, there is a maximum amount that the court can order as it relates to durational alimony.
The maximum is the lesser amount of, the person who needs alimony's monthly deficit, or 35% of the difference between each party's net income.
Now, with regard to other types of alimony: bridge the gap transitional alimony; or rehabilitative alimony; or temporary alimony; there is no 35% cap.
We have new laws, and there's a whole bunch of new questions.
If you need your questions answered, feel free to give us a call, and we'll be happy to answer them for you.
At the law offices of Gary S. Dolgin, we will treat you like family."
If you have any questions about the new laws which have taken effect July 1, 2023, we are happy to help you.
