Being a podiatrist I see tons of cases of athletes foot and fungal nail infection every year, daily in fact. As a result I go through a lot of Terbinafine (generic version of Lamisil).
Keeping foot fungus at bay involves some lifestyle adjustments, like rigorously drying in-between the toes and applying anti-fungal treatment periodically to prevent recurrence. You wouldn't expect to stop weeding your garden all summer would you? Your skin is your bodys' garden, it deserves to be looked after.
It's #parceltime!
Why have I got a shed load of Terbinafine cream?
Terbinafine hydrochloride, it is a really effective treatment for athlete's foot.
As athlete's foot is so common and it returns if people stop doing what we call a prophylactic treatment.
We advise (when we get people using this product), we get them to use it daily for four weeks, even if the symptoms have cleared before then and then we get them using it once a week to suppress any return of that.
Why? Because the fungal spores are in your house, in your shoes, in your carpets.
You can't get rid of 'em.
It's like dandelion clocks getting blown into my garden and more dandelions growing in my lawn despite the fact that I might get rid of them otherwise.
It's a maintenance program, just as much as it is a treatment and that's the mindset we have to help our patients get into.
