Hi, my name is Amy Kershaw, Commissioner for the Department of Transitional Assistance or DTA.
DTA assists and empowers low-income individuals and families to meet their basic needs, improve their quality of life, and achieve long term economic self-sufficiency.
DTA provides residents of the Commonwealth with direct economic assistance, cash benefits, and food assistance through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or SNAP, as well as workforce training opportunities.
Through our Pathways to Work programs, DTA provides comprehensive workforce training opportunities to help you set and achieve goals for greater economic mobility. We will connect you with career pathways that match your goals.
We also offer transportation, child care and other supports to allow you to fully participate in a selected activity or work.
To get started, you will usually meet with one of our Full Engagement workers, also known as “FEWs.” These meetings can be in person or virtual.
You may also have an orientation where you will also learn about all the opportunities and supports DTA has available for you.
We are committed to supporting you and your family to meet your basic needs, and also help you set and meet your goals for your future.
Please take some time to learn more about available programs and how to connect with DTA staff at Mass.gov/dta-pathways-to-work or call our Assistance Line. Thank you.
