Another comparison of my 1990 BOSS CE-2, this time with a 2020 MXR M234 analog chorus.
Both effects are analog.
The MXR M234 chorus has two filter settings LOW and HIGH. These cut the frequency when turned to the left so for the sake of this comparison I set them fully to the right. They offer more ways to shape the chorus tone than the BOSS CE-2.
The MXR M234 is a great alternative to the usual BOSS CE-2 style chorus effect. The sound is a bit fuller and (to my ears) has a slight phaser element.
I created a piece of music with single guitar lines, arpeggios and chords to demonstrate how the effect sounds in those contexts.
I used the bridge pickup on a USA Fender Stratocaster into a Bugera T5 Infinium 5W head with Marshall 2 x 12 1936 cab for all the recorded guitar parts.
