PCT is prohormone of Calcitonin. It consist of 116 amino acids .In normal conditions it release from C cells of thyroid gland & neuroendocrine cells of lung cells. But in pathological conditions it release from many tissues. In short form we called it has PCT. This test use to detect infectious disease conditions.
