MD stands for Doctor of Medicine.
DO stands for Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine.
A DO graduates from a U.S. osteopathic medical school. To apply to a DO school, applicants apply using the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine Application Service (better known as the AACOMAS).
An MD graduates from a traditional medical school. To apply to an MD school, applicants apply using the American Medical College Application Service® (better known as the AMCAS®).
