B.C. provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry presented the latest round of COVID-19 modelling information during a briefing on Thursday, urging people to continue to abide by physical distancing rules because a sudden surge in cases would likely happen this month if people return to more than 70 per cent of normal physical contact.

Currently, data shows British Columbians are operating at about 50 per cent of normal activity. If behaviour continues at this level, officials were optimistic confirmed cases could disappear by July and the province could move to its next phase of reopening by mid-June.

The province reported nine new cases of COVID-19 and no new deaths. The case total sits at 2,632 confirmed, with 201 active as of Thursday.
