The Police Foundation (PF) will provide an overview of our COPS and NIJ-funded Averted School Violence (ASV) database. The database is used to collect, analyze, and share information on both averted and completed acts of violence in schools post-Columbine. PF project expert Dr. Peter Langman will discuss key findings and recommendations from a preliminary study conducted by the PF on averted incidents of school violence compared to completed incidents. Project partner Sandy Hook Promise (SHP) will then provide an overview of the training they provide in schools to help students and teachers identify and address concerning student behavior that can lead to violence..
