Raqs Zanjeer Pehn Kar is a famous song written by revolutionary poet Habib Jalib. The song was dedicated to a famous Pakistani film actress Neelo in 1965 when she refused to perform before the Shah of Iran, on an official visit to Pakistan. Despite the pressure and intimidation of the dictator General Ayub Khan of Pakistan she refused to bow before a tyrant.
Many artists from film industry at that time protested against this oppression including many writers, directors, singers and poets.
Later this song was used in a film Zarqa, in which Neelo played the leading role.
Lal Salaam to the women of Iran and Afghanistan who are fighting for freedom against the reactionary Mullah regimes of their countries and are sacrificing their lives for the cause.
Either it is the bloodbath and imperialist wars of the USA and allies or the oppressive regimes of fundamentalists, all oppression and exploitation is rooted in the bloodthirsty capitalist system. Only through a socialist revolution this whole curse can be overthrown and freedom for women and all oppressed layers can be achieved.
Tu Ke Nawaqif - e - Aadab - e - Shehenshahi Hai Abhi
(You are unaware of the tenets of Imperialism!)
Raqs Zanjeer Pehn Kar Bhi Kiya Jata Hai!
(You can also dance in chains!)
Aaj Qaatil Ki Yeh Marzi Hai Ke Sarkash Larki
(Today the ruler wishes of you, you stubborn girl)
Sar - e - Maqtal Tujhay Koron Se Nachaya Jay
(That you be made to dance by whipping)
Maut Ka Raqs Zamane Ko Dikhaya Jaye
(This deadly dance is for the world to see)
Is Tarah Zulm Ko Nazarana Diya Jata Hai
(This is a spectacle of the power of darkness)
Raqs Zanjeer Pehn Kar Bhi Kiya Jata Hai
Long live socialist revolution!
Workers of the world unite!
