Stari Grad, the oldest town in Croatia, was our first stop on Hvar island. It's the quieter neighbour to the main town on Hvar (Hvar town) and attracts a very chilled, family-oriented vibe. The island is home to many lavender farms, and we came across lots of lavender product stalls exuding an amazing smell, as well as some lavender ice cream!
We spent just over a week here and thoroughly enjoyed the many swimming and snorkelling spots, both close to the town but also further out - best explored by boat!
The town itself is quaint and, much like most of Croatia, has many cute cobblestone walkways and aesthetic homes.
Our Recommendations:
🌊 Have an early morning swim at Plaža Lanterna - the morning's are beautifully calm and the crowds are not around yet!
🚤 Rent a Boat for the day and explore the coastlines not easily accessible by foot
🚶♂️Hike up Glavica Hill: Take a quick hike (20 mins from the town) up this hill to watch the sunset from alongside the White Cross
🍦 Aroma Gelato: If they have it in stock and you're feeling daring, try the Lavender ice cream - this island's speciality!
🍴Blue Doors: Delicious steaks and seafood along the promenade
