Los Angeles: Detectives from the Commercial Crimes Division, Burglary Special Section and with the assistance of Gang and Narcotics surveillance unit, apprehended four out of five suspects in a robbery and organized retail theft crime series involving retail cellular stores in the Los Angeles and surrounding counties. Detectives are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying an additional juvenile suspect responsible for business robberies.
Between August 1, 2019 and December 23, 2019, between the hours of 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., there were a series of robberies and grand thefts from cellular phone stores. The suspects walked into the store and took items from the display tables. The suspects then either cut or pulled the security cables from the electronic devices. The suspects ran out of the store with multiple phones.
Detectives’ investigation revealed that the suspects have been robbing and burglarizing cellular stores in the Southern California region to include various cities in Los Angeles, Orange and San Bernardino Counties.
• September 7, 2019, around 3 p.m., 600 block of Western Avenue.
• September 25, 2019, around 5 p.m., 8200 block of Van Nuys Boulevard.
• December 14, 2019, around 7 p.m., 2700 block of E. 1st Street.
• December 18, 2019, around 1:45 p.m., 3000 N. San Fernando Road.
• December 21, 2019, around 4 p.m., 4400 block of Van Nuys Boulevard.
• December 23, 2019, around 5:30 p.m., 8000 block of Webb Avenue.
Burglary Special Section Detectives have identified and arrested four out of the five identified suspects involved in the above incidents. The suspects were responsible for thousands of dollars in property loss. The District Attorney’s Office filed multiple counts on suspect Damon Levi Williams as well as on the three other juvenile suspects, between the ages of 14 to 17 years-old.
The fifth suspect shown on the video is the juvenile in the red hooded sweatshirt and remains at large.
