PH NAVY'S LANDING DOCK ACQUISITION PROJECT REACHES MILESTONE W/ KEEL LAYING CEREMONY FOR 2NDVESSEL
The Philippine Navy's ambitious Landing Dock Acquisition Project has reached a significant milestone with the keel laying ceremony for the second landing dock (Landing Dock #2) conducted by Indonesian state-owned shipbuilder PT PAL Indonesia. The event, held on 29 May 2024 at PT PAL's shipyard in Surabaya, marks a critical step in the construction of the two new landing docks that will enhance the operational capabilities of the Philippine Navy.
The keel laying ceremony is a traditional maritime practice that signifies the official start of a ship's construction. This event follows the earlier commencement of Landing Dock #1, which is currently leading by approximately 4.5 months in its development compared to Landing Dock #2.
