Alan Mathison Turing was born to Julius Mathison Turing and Ethel Sara Turing in Maida Vale, London, on June 23, 1912. In the early part of his childhood, Turing showed signs of the genius that he later became.
He attended the St. Michael’s day school at age six, and went on to Hazelhurst Preparatory School in Sussex between 1922 and 1926, at what time he was 16 years old. He then attended the Sherborne boarding school, and his first day for school was the day of the 1926 General Strike in Britain. In his determination, he rode to school unaccompanied.
