The Fiscal Responsibility Act now before Congress does not include any cuts to social security, but if lawmakers don't do something soon, social security benefits would be automatically cut by 24% in about 10 years. One Louisiana Senator is making it his goal to save it before it's too late. Senator Bill Cassidy is a medical doctor but worries that seniors will be left out in the cold when social security cuts are made. Senator Cassidy says, "We take $1.5 trillion dollars and we put it into the economy. We allow that to grow, whether it's the stock market, real estate, or you name it. And just like a teacher's pension fund, you put the money there, you allow it to grow over time and that helps bail out social security." He is taking his message to the streets of Washington DC with a video he named "Bill on the Hill". Republican Senator Kevin Cramer backs Senator Cassidy's efforts. He says doing nothing is not the answer. Senator Cassidy says it starts with presidential leadership to identify funding options. Democrats are touting their own efforts called the Social Security 2100 Act. Capitol Hill Correspondent, Erik Rosales reports.
