My videos of Isaac's Tea Trail condensed into a single video from start to finish.

The Trail supposedly follows the route of a tea merchant noted for his charitable work in the area called Isaac Holden. As such it twists and turns between abandoned farm houses and old lead mines.
I have removed the detours that we made to bag the Dodd and to the 'witch's cottage' (see the sectional videos) and all footage is found on the trail itself.
The Trail is 36miles (58km) in length and is a circular that starts and finishes at Allendale.
The trail should not be underestimated. It covers some tough terrain, there are many twists and turns and it is very easy to find yourself on the wrong trail having to back track. Although the trail is way marked, a good map is essential. The guide book recommends 4 days and to be honest that is a good idea... we spent 4 days in total but the first day we abandoned the trail after being led astray on the moors by following the posts that took us miles off course, forcing us to start again. In total we did the trail over 3 days, Allendale to Alston, Alston to Ninebanks, Ninebanks to Allendale.
The Trail is shown on Ordnance Survey 'Explorer' maps OL31 North Pennines and OL43 Hadrian's Wall (1:25000). If you do not already have these two maps then it is probably cheaper to do as I did and order a custom made map of the trail.
A guide book is available for the Trail but it can't be relied upon for its maps.
The weather is highly changeable and you have to walk some high exposed moorland. Expect wind, rain, and sun all in the same day within minutes of each other. At one point we had blues skies above but were being rained upon by a cloud that was miles away on the other side of the valley. It is probably wise not to attempt the Trail in the winter.
There are parts of the trail near the rivers that are washed away from recent floods earlier in 2016. Detours are available. From Nenthead to Alston, we just stuck to the trail and walked a couple of metres across stones in the river. From Ninebanks to Allendale we took a detour from Bridge Eal to Bishop Field farm along the track, then a footpath from the road back to the river thus bypassing a closed section that included Tommy Stout Well.
