This song was originally written by Dominic Behan, in tribute to his father Stephen, and performed by The Wolfe Tones. The Black and Tans were a British paramilitary police force meant to quell Irish Rebellion during the 1920s. Comprised mostly of unemployed WWI veterans, they were notorious for vicious actions against the Irish.
