Day 2 with Clipless Pedals - Day two of my car-less year found me out for a gentle ride to get used to riding with clipless pedals and cleated shoes.
Friends had all predicted that I would suffer a 'comedy moment'.... and I was determined to prove them wrong. They were right and I was wrong.
In this clip I had clipped out (both feet) and was coasting to a gentle stop when I stupidly rested my left foot back on the pedal, and very quietly clipped my shoe back into the pedal. I learned that leaving the SPD's adjusted 'loose' also means that the cleats will snick back in very easily and very quietly.
The rest is, as they say, history :)
NB: My shoes are Specialized 'Cadets'. I usually take a 46 but found a sized 47 was a much better fit for my wide feet. Nice and roomy in the toe-box and are very well ventilated. They have ventilation holes in the bottom of the sole so will be wet and cold in bad weather - not that I'm bothered by that at the moment :) I'm thinking of buying some shimano boots for my winter commuting.
