For 10 years, runners have gathered every February to participate in the 26.2 with DONNA. It’s a marathon to raise money and awareness for breast cancer research and care. Founder Donna Deegan is a three-time breast cancer survivor who was treated at Mayo Clinic. With funds from the marathon and related events, Donna – along with thousands of participants from around the world – have helped Mayo Clinic establish the Breast Cancer Translational Genomics Program. As a result, researchers have begun to uncover new information about breast cancer and develop better ways to diagnose and treat breast cancer, and possibly other cancers.
