THE CHIEF MINISTER ATTENDED THE STATE-LEVEL NAMPRIKDANG NAMSOONG FESTIVAL.

The three-day Namprikdang namsoong festival mela concluded successfully today in Namprikdang, Dzongu.
Sikkim Chief Minister P. S. Tamang was the Chief Guest at the State Level Namprikdang Namsoong Festival 2022 on the final day of the three-day festival today. The program also featured Deputy Speaker Sangey Lepcha, Minister M.N Sherpa, MLAs, Political Secretary to HCM North, Zilla Adhyksha Mangan, Zilla Upadhyksha Mangan, Secretary, D.C Mangan, ADM Mangan, ADC (Dev) Mangan, ADC (Dev) Chungthang, SDMs, BDOs, Officers & Officials, Panchayats, dignitaries and local gentry
Competitive activities such as tug of war and traditional performances were on display during the mela, as well as an exhibition of the making of the revered Lepcha hat named, traditional food and attire in various stalls were observed.
In his address, Chief Guest CM Prem Singh Tamang praised everyone for their dedication and efforts in effectively and successfully conducting a traditional mela in this age of technology and modernism. He also emphasized the importance of education and urged citizens to take advantage of initiatives and schemes such as the Mukhya Mantri Scholarship scheme, among others. He urged the provision of services to assist the people and further develop the district in areas such as health and tourism. He also mentioned the various courses of action that everyone could take collectively for the advancement of society and urged everyone to keep working hard.
Pintsho Namgyal Lepcha, Area MLA, welcomed the distinguished guests on behalf of the people of North District and thanked them for accepting the invitation on such short notice. In his address to the gathering, he emphasized the significance of the occasion and its role in preserving the Lepcha community's tribal traditions and culture. He also mentioned several ongoing development projects in the district, as well as the government's numerous accomplishments for its people.
The winners of the folk dance competition and tug of war received prizes as well as pork and millet beers.
