Did you know that video games are capable of promoting healthy values? NARC subtly tells children that drugs are bad. And then there's Sonic the Hedgehog, which promotes marriage equality between oversized talking animals and anime characters. Some games are too heavy-handed, while others aren't sure what they're trying to say. And then there's this item from Metal Slug, which sends the wrong message altogether.
This is food. Yes, food. It's the thing that keeps us alive. It gives us energy, makes our skin glow and does all kinds of other crap that I would tell you about if I was a doctor or patient enough to read Wikipedia. But just like in Metal Slug, if you eat too much food, you'll gain weight and become hard to control.
But instead of working the extra weight off by exercising or, I don't know, fighting a war, Metal Slug suggests the way to lose weight is to eat diet food. This is terrible advice. If watching TV commercials has taught me anything, the only way to lose weight is to only eat red meat, only drink vinegar, only eat chocolate and never ingest anything that starts with the letter S. Oh, and something about massive amounts of cocaine.
