New Brunswick’s chief medical officer Dr. Jennifer Russell said Tuesday that a “superspreader event” in the province is responsible for 60 confirmed cases of COVID-19.
Russell said the event occurred at two venues “in the course of one evening.” She said 34 people in attendance contracted COVID-19, and another 26 people who were in contact with attendees who also became ill.
“This isn’t about casting blame,” Russell said, explaining that it’s necessary to raise awareness about the dangers of such events.
New Brunswick reported seven new cases of the novel coronavirus on Tuesday.
