Friends, today I’m looking back a bit in nostalgia to one of my last pre Covid concerts. It’s a performance of Raga Darbari that I played in the 7th Tollygunge Baithak, an annual whole night concert happening in my Kolkata home.
While it is always a special moment to share one’s music in the circle of other musicians and music enthusiast this time our musical get together was also a celebration of my 50th birthday. And what better way of celebrating could be there than spending a night with musical friends and colleagues listening to each other performances...
I do need to explain you the significance of playing Raga Darbari on such a occasion. Hope you will get some of the dense atmosphere in the place, nicely captured by the team of Kaahon.
The Pakhawaj accompaniment comes from Mithun Chakraborty, one of Kolkatas young percussion talents specializing on this ancient rhythm instrument.
Thanks to all who made this musical night possible and all those taking care that we can enjoy the recording now.
