While the cost of animal feed is still unstable and increasingly rising in Rwanda, black soldier flies farming was initiated by Vétérinaires Sans Frontières (VSF) in Rwanda in partnership with PRISM-Enabel, our Agriculture project in Rwanda.
The project is expected to increase the affordability and quality of animal feed thus boosting the productivity and profitability in the poultry and pig value chains.
Black soldier flies pilot farms have been set up, and farmers trained to grow the flies.
The result? Availability of animal feed with a lot of proteins at less cost.
