Cavies or Guinea Pigs really don't like the hot and humid weather. Originating from the cold climates of the Andes means that weren't designed for the hotter climates. Heat stroke is a real potential issue faced by Guinea Pigs. Overheating can happen very quickly and can be potentially life threatening.
In this episode of the myPET Podcast vet-n-pet DIRECT's resident vet Dr Glenn is joined by Aria to discuss the dangers of hot and humid weather for Guinea Pigs. They talk about the weather conditions that put them most at risk, the signs of heat stroke and treatment. More importantly they let you know what you can do to keep your Guinea Pig/s from overheating and how to prevent heat stroke.
