Belarusian dictator Lukashenka has hinted that he plans to release a number of seriously ill political prisoners in the near future. According to him, first of all, the amnesty will affect people with cancer.
"Do not be surprised if in a few days very seriously ill, as they write about them, ours, who did not manage to escape and are in places not so remote, who broke, wrecked the country in 2020, will be released. These are the really seriously ill. Mostly with cancer. We take a human approach and treat everyone. A person in trouble, I believe, has no citizenship, and we must help them," said Lukashenko.
As of July 2, 2024, 1409 people were recognised as political prisoners in Belarus. At the end of May 2024, according to the Human Rights Centre "Viasna," there are more than 90 political prisoners, whose health condition is serious. Also behind bars are 65 political prisoners over 60 years old, many of whom have serious health problems.
Against this background, the Belarusian ruler, who for years keeps thousands of innocent people in prison, in inhuman conditions, just because they dared to disagree with his opinion, decided to rant about humanity without the slightest embarrassment.
