In this video we will going more into detail about what we know so far for the next VR headset Meta is planning to release.

First, what is project Cambria? Project Cambria is meta’s next generation of virtual reality headset that is on the higher end compared to meta quest 2 currently available to the market. It is aimed at usage within the work space through what meta calls “mixed reality” which is identical or similar to what we call augmented reality or AR. At this point of time, exact release date is unknown but meta has stated that they plan to release this headset project Cambria sometime 2022. The exact price is also unknown at this time. Meta stated that the next VR headset will cost significantly higher than $800.

Project Cambria is expected to include eye tracking, and face tracking allowing users for more of a real-life feeling to the VR experience. It’ll see an upgrade to the lenses and display which will improve the qualify of pictures and media as well as allowing the headset to be lighter and thinner.

The headset itself was blurred out so we can’t exactly see what project Cambria VR headset will look like. Project Cambria headset will allow full pass through unlike the Meta Quest 2. Seems like Meta will be leading the charge on integrating full VR and AR experiences for mass adoption and I’m very excited for what Meta will be planning for the future. As a side note, meta has stated that project Cambria is one of four new headsets meta plans to release by 2024.
