Today we dive into the best ways to integrate LEGLOCKS and your HALF BUTTERFLY guard! There's a real synergy between half butterfly - a great guard for mid-range retention and attacks - and leg entanglements which take place at a greater distance. Once you learn to use your half-butterfly guard to off-balance your partner, you'll find that entries to the legs become much easier. Half butterfly gives you a strong inside position on your partner's legs, allowing you to move under their center of mass and to disrupt their compact base of support. Whether you use sumi gaeshi, a bridging method or simply upper body posts and frames, you'll have plenty of tools to start to expose the legs and get to work on your attacks.
